The easter bunny loves wine

Jelly beans, chocolate bunnies, the obligatory but always uneaten Peeps… Easter is full of familiar favorites, but this year we took a close look at the shelves and chose some new wines that we know will pair perfectly with your entire Easter spread.

Whether you have lamb or ham on the table, we’ve got you covered. See what the staff thinks you should have in your glass this year. Cheers!

Domaine des Tours, Vin de Pays de Vaucluse

Region: Vaucluse AOC – Rhône Valley, France

Varietals: Grenache, Counoise, Syrah, Cinsault, Merlot

AARON’S PICK - Blood orange marmalade, sharp strawberry edges, and a little smoke on the tail end. This wine is aromatic and seductive. Let it breathe a bit and enjoy with a nice rack of lamb straight off the grill.

7 LUNES.jpg

La Ferme des Sept Lunes, Viogner-Roussanne

Region: VdP - Rhône Valley

Varietals: Viogner, Roussanne

COLIN’S PICK - Nutty and nuanced. A nose full of freshly cracked walnuts and chamomile tea. This is the bottle to try if you typically reach for full-bodied Chardonnay.

Glinavos, Ioannina Paleokerisio

Region: PGI Ioannina – Epirus, Greece

Varietals: Debina, Vlahiko

This wine was made for Easter, literally. Hundreds of years ago this wine would begin its fermentation during autumn in large vats. Fermentation would halt during the colder winter months and continue fermenting as spring began. Because of this, it retains a lovely pétillance. It’s refreshing, a little grippy, and savory. Turkish apricot, orange peel, and brand-new sneakers.

fiano.jpg

Vigne Guadagno, Contrada Sant'Aniello, Fiano di Avellino

Region: Fiano di Avellino DOCG – Campania, Italy

Varietal: Fiano

CHELSIE’S PICK - Bright and creamy. Dazzling acidity but with a softness that only Fiano can provide. A year on fine lees doesn't hurt either. Think lemon oil, pecorino, and Yuzu curd. This is a lateral move for the “dry white” lovers. Plus, it’s something a little nicer for the occasion. But also, this wine would be bomb with honey-baked ham!

schiava.jpg

Erste-Neue, Kalterersee Classico Superiore, Schiava

Region: Südtirol-Alto Adige DOC – Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

Varietal: Schiava

Sustainable

JYOTI’S PICK - Flinty strawberries and graphite. This is a delicate red to savor. Cool it down a bit and watch the fruit brighten. It would be great with lamb and ham alike. Or honestly, just slowly sip it on its own, it deserves the attention.

breze.jpg

Domaine Arnaud Lambert, Crémant de Loire Brézé Rosé

Region: Crémant de Loire AOC - Loire Valley

Varietals: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon

MARIANA’S PICK - Full of toasted brioche, soft acidity, and completely addicting. If you want Champagne quality without spending Champagne dollars, you MUST try this wine. Simply stunning.

bb ries.jpg

Boundary Breaks, Ovid Line North Riesling

Region: Finger Lakes AVA - New York

Varietal: Riesling

CHRIS’ PICK - Dried pineapple, preserved lemon, ripe papaya. A flash of acid and lightly juicy. This Riesling is almost intimidatingly cool.

Untitled design-62.jpg

Leirana, Rías Baixas Albariño

Region: Rías Baixas DO - Galicia, Spain

Varietal: Albariño

ABBY’S PICK - Imagine squeezing a lemon over your salad as you sit oceanside enjoying the view. That's the feeling this wine evokes. Classic Albariño. Salty air and refreshingly soft acidity. Find a croissant and slice up some ham, you need a sandwich.

l boaz.jpg

Ruth Lewandowski, Testa Vineyard, Boaz

Region: California

Varietals: Carignan, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon

Somehow lush and snappy all at once. Carignan smoke and weight from Cabernet Sauvignon are shepherded by the freshness of Grenache. But make no mistake, this is a hefty red. Flinty, ashy, and full of mulberries and relaxed tannins.
