under $15 Faves pt.1
January is the time for sober reflection, figuratively speaking. The chaos and over-spending of the holidays is behind us and after a long day at the virtual office, you just want to throw your feet up and pour yourself a glass of something delicious and uncomplicated. That’s why we’re telling you about some of our favorite wines that just happen to be under $15.
Region: AOC Picpoul de Pinet - Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Varietal: Picpoul
Simply delightful. Steely, clean, and refreshing. Bone dry, acidity that slaps you in the face after the first sip, and a lingering aftertaste of lemon zest. Who are you if you don't like this wine? $12.99
Region: Minho IGP - Minho, Portugal
Varietal: Alvarinho (Albariño)
Lightly effervescent, mellow notes of honeydew and gardenia. This wine is like brand new suede. A little bit of texture, but incredibly soft and smooth. $13.99
Region: Colli Tortonesi DOC - Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Barbera
Luscious, easy-drinking Barbera. Here's your everyday pizza wine people. A little raspberry, a little dirt. We love it. $14.99
Region: Niederösterreich, Austria
Varietal: Zweigelt
The everyday red you didn't know you needed. We've converted many "Cab" drinkers to this zippy Zweigelt. Anise and raspberry preseves with just enough structure to keep things interesting. $11.99
Region: Mendoza, Argentina
Varietal: Malbec
Smooth, savory, lush Malbec. This is such a friendly wine. Plums, currants, a little hug of tannins on the finish. Full bodied and ready for meat or a cozy night on the sofa. $13.99
Region: IGP Pays d'Oc - Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Varietal: Grenache, Syrah
The audacity of this wine... It is way too nuanced for $12.99. Black Raspberry, white pepper, and thyme. Solid tannins that keep everything in place and provide an addicting, savory finish. It's our new favorite. $12.99
