Don’t sleep on these wines

With over six hundred wines on the shelves of our stores and on our website, it can be overwhelming to make a choice every night. Even we forget about wines after we taste them! That’s why, this week, we’ve put together a list of bottles that are overlooked but deserving of your attention. Old school skin-contact from Friuli, chillable Graves, and two of our favorite dessert wines we think you should all try. So peruse the list and dare to pull the cork on something new. And August is the time to experiment because we’re offering 20% off a case!

Gaintza, Txakolina

Region: Getariako Txakolina DO - Basque Country, Spain

Grapes: Hondarrabi Zuri, Gros Manseng, Hondarrabi Beltza

A little croissant dough on the nose. A very gentle spritz upon opening, but it's all about lemon, sea salt, and ocean air. So tart and tangy, it cries out for fried clams or spreadable sheep's milk cheeses. Something like Brebisrousse d'Argental or Queso Roncal over a fresh baguette would be perfect.

Radikon, Sivi Pinot Grigio

Region: Venezia Giulia IGT - Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

Grape: Pinot Grigio

The OG skin contact white. Apricots, nectarines, and a gentle stick on the finish. So fresh, so clean.

Château de Respide, Graves

Region: Graves AOP - Bordeaux, France

Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

A nose full of strawberry preserves, red plum, and bittersweet chocolate. This wine is delicate and savory with refined tannins. Merlot really does her job here while Cabernet Sauvignon is there to support.

La Cartuja, Priorat

Region: DO Priorat - Catalonia, Spain

Grapes: Garnacha, Mazuelo (aka Carignan)

Rich plummy notes coupled with a little smoke and fresh acidity. Something about this board reminds me of a charcuterie board. Grab yourself some cured meats and go to town.

Lechuza, Garnacha

Region: Castilla-La Mancha, Spain

Grape: Garnacha

Thank goodness for Garnacha. Violets and acacia coupled with brilliant minerality makes us love this wine even more. It stays bright and juicy while maintaining its depth. Just trust us and give it a try.

Clos Lapeyre, Jurançon Moelleux

Region: AOC Jurançon - Southwest

Grapes: Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng

This wine is simultaneously complex and refreshing. It's full of passion fruit, grilled pineapple, and lemony goodness. Its sweetness is almost an afterthought because it hits you over the head with acidity.

Giorgi, Costarosa Sangue di Giuda

Region: Oltrepò Pavese DOC - Lombardia, Italy

Grapes: Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara

Baked strawberry, red currant, and blackberry. If you need a dessert wine to pair with anything chocolate, look no further. Lightly effervescent and slightly lower in alcohol, this is the ideal wine to sip on after dinner with or without something sweet.
